Glover Park Road Construction began on Monday, October 7th. It was originally scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, January 7th, 2003. This schedule, however, has changed. Most of the work on streets to be reconstructed or upgraded has been delayed.

Resurfacing of Glover Park Streets is currently underway and will be completed by the end of 2002. Resurfacing includes milling and overlaying roadway surface with new asphalt, replacing portions of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, alleys, wheelchair ramps, catch basins (storm drains) as well as upgrading streetlights and tree plantings.

Replacement of Catch Basins and Storm Drains throughout Glover Park is also currently underway and will be completed during the first quarter of 2003.

Reconstruction and Upgrading work will be re-scheduled for Spring 2003 when weather conditions are likely to be more favorable. Reconstruction is an extension of resurfacing work and includes installing a new roadway base and asphalt surface. Upgrading is similar to reconstruction but also includes widening some roadways as well as installing curbs and gutters where they do not exist.

Status:

• The new sewer system on 42nd Street (2300-2500 blocks) will be installed beginning the week of March 17th.
• Curb, gutter, and sidewalk work began on W Street and 42nd Street between 40th Street and Tunlaw Road the week of March 24th.
• Landscapers will work as weather permits but no trees will be planted before Spring. Work is currently underway on Davis Place (3900-4000 blocks).

• ROADWAY EXCAVATION AND CONSTRUCTION RESUMED THE WEEK OF MARCH 17th. (RAIN DELAYS THE WEEK OF APRIL 7th HAS CAUSED DELAYS.)

• Work will begin in the 3900 to 4100 blocks of Edmunds Street on March 19th. The street will be closed during the day. Buses will be re-routed from 41st Street, left on to Davis, right on to 42nd, right on to Tunlaw, right on to 39th and then resume their normal routes.
• The week of March 24th, work will begin on the 3800 Block of Davis Place and then proceed to the 3900 to 4000 blocks.
• As work nears completion on Davis Place, work will begin on the 2300 to 2600 blocks of 41st Street.
• The final phase of excavation/reconstruction work will be on W Street/42nd Street from 40th Street to Tunlaw Road.
• Each phase of road construction is expected to take roughly two weeks to complete.

Notification: The D.C. Department of Transportation is required to notify effected residents in writing at least six days in advance of the beginning of any roadwork.

• Manor Place: 37th Street to Huidekoper Place
• Observatory Place: Manor Place to W Street
• W Street: 40th Street to 42nd Street

Staging Area for Road Construction Equipment: 42nd and Davis Place from Behind the Stop Sign to the Entrance to the Park; Beecher and 42nd Street; W Street along the park line; and 41st and Davis Place.

Parking: Fort Myer Construction (the contractor) will return as many on-street spaces for parking as possible for the evening and overnight hours. Please note that cars must be moved by 7 A.M. between Monday and Saturday or they will be towed. Tow trucks will move them to the first available space but will not be able to keep track of where each vehicle is moved.
